- ロケットスレッド (rocket sled) は、地上に敷設されたレールの上を、ソリ状の乗り物をロケット推進で走らせる装置、およびその乗り物。物体の加速などの実験に使う。 名前のとおりロケットスレッドには車輪が無く、代わりに“スリッパ”と呼ばれる摺動体がある。機体が「離陸」してしまわないよう、通常の鉄道用レールの断面と同様のT型に出っ張っている部分を利用して、保持するようになっている。 ロケットやミサイルなどの大型の射出物を空中に飛ばすことなく実験が行えるので、周りに残骸が飛ばず、レールに乗せて固定してあるので危険性が少なく、有人実験も行いやすいというメリットがある。しかしながら、レール建設または修理をするのに時間がかかるというデメリットもある。 (ja)
- Sanie rakietowe – platforma testowa poruszająca się na szynach, napędzana przez rakiety. Sanie rakietowe ustanowiły rekord prędkości pojazdu mechanicznego na ziemi. 30 kwietnia 2003 w bazie sił powietrznych Holloman Air Force Base poruszające się po torze długości 15,480 km (najdłuższym tego rodzaju torze) osiągnęły prędkość Mach 8,5 (10 325 km/h). Służyły m.in. do testowania foteli wyrzucanych, a także wpływu dużych przeciążeń na ludzi. Najsłynniejszym przypadkiem tego typu testu był przejazd ppłk . W 1954 w bazie Edwards Air Force Base podczas hamowania doznał przeciążenia 46,2g. (pl)

Как понятно из названия, у данной платформы отсутствуют колёса, а вместо них использованы специальные салазки, которые повторяют контур рельсов и не дают слететь платформе. Instead, it has sliding pads, called "slippers", which are curved around the head of the rails to prevent the sled from flying off the track. The rail cross-section profile is that of a Vignoles rail, commonly used for railroads.
