Wilburt Prysock (February 2, 1926 – July 19, 1993), known professionally as Red Prysock, was an American rhythm and blues tenor saxophonist, one of the early Coleman Hawkins-influenced saxophonists to move in the direction of rhythm and blues, rather than bebop.

(en) Wilburt „Red“ Prysock (* 2. Februar 1926 in Greensboro (North Carolina); † 19. Juli 1993 in Chicago) war ein US-amerikanischer Rhythm & Blues- und Jazzmusiker (Tenorsaxophon, auch Gesang). Prysock spielte ab 1947 in New York im Tiny Grimes Quintet, ab 1951 bei Tiny Bradshaw, auf dessen Hitsingle „Soft“ er Solist war. 1954 unterzeichnete er einen Plattenvertrag bei Mercury Records; für das Label spielte er eine Reihe von Instrumental-Titel wie „Hand Clappin’“ (Mercury 70698) ein, 1955 sein größter Erfolg. 1957 folgten die LPs Fruit Boots und The Beat. In seiner Band spielte u. a. auch Mickey Baker. Der Diskograf Tom Lord listet seine Beteiligung an 54 Aufnahmesessions von 1947 bis 1988, u. a. auch mit Roy Milton, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Bull Moose Jackson und Wynonie Harris. Opuścił grupę nie zgadzając się na nowy sceniczny image zakładający noszenie na scenie podczas koncertów kiltów. (pl) Wilbert Prysock, beter bekend als Red Prysock (Greensboro, 2 februari 1926 - Chicago, 19 juli 1993) was een Amerikaanse tenorsaxofonist in de jazz en rhythm & blues. Hij was een energieke saxofonist. Prysock, een broer van zanger Arthur Prysock, ging rond 1943 saxofoon spelen, waarbij hij beïnvloed werd door Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young en Don Byas. Na zijn diensttijd speelde hij eind jaren veertig bij 's Rocking Highlanders, waarmee hij ook opnames maakte voor Atlantic en . Hij speelde kort bij Roy Milton (1950) en was daarna actief bij de band van Tiny Bradshaw. Hij stond met Bradshaw enkele keren in de opnamestudio en speelde solo op Bradshaw's hit "Soft" uit 1953 (gecomponeerd door Prysock zelf).
