Nadir Afonso, GOSE (4 December 1920 – 11 December 2013) was a Portuguese geometric abstractionist painter. Formally trained in architecture, which he practiced early in his career with Le Corbusier and Oscar Niemeyer, Nadir Afonso later studied painting in Paris and became one of the pioneers of Kinetic art, working alongside Victor Vasarely, Fernand Léger, Auguste Herbin, and André Bloc.

Tornato a Parigi nel 1954, prese parte a numerose esposizioni con dipinti di impostazione astratto-geometrica alla galleria Denise René (nota perle esposizioni di arte astratta). In Portogallo dal 1960 vi ha esplicato la sua attività di architetto e urbanista per poi dedicarsi, dal 1965, esclusivamente alla pittura, impostando la sua ricerca su rigorose costruzioni geometriche che tuttavia non limitano l'invenzione.
