The M44 is an expressway in Hungary. It is intended to connect the city of Békéscsaba near the Romanian border with the M5 interchange at Kecskemét. The construction of 62 km long Tiszakürt - Kondoros section of the expressway was built first, and it was inaugurated in October, 2019. This was further extended in Eastern direction with a 18 km long section from Kondoros to road 44 bypass of Békéscsaba by the end of 2020, and in Western direction with a 10 km section to Lakitelek, including a new bridge on the Tisza river, by the end of 2021.

Aus Kostengründen wird die Schnellstraße ohne Pannenstreifen gebaut. Der Spatenstich für das längste Teilstück von bis wurde am 21. Dezember 2016 vollzogen. Dieser Teilabschnitt wurde am 2. - De M44 is een autosnelweg in Hongarije. Het verbindt Kecskemét in het centrale deel van Hongarije met de stad Békéscsaba, nabij de grens met Roemenië. Nabij Kecskemét is er een snelle verbinding met de M5 (Hongarije) en de geplande M8 (Hongarije). In 2021 werd bekend dat de Hongaarse overheid en de Roemeense overheid nadenken over een aansluiting van de M44 op de geplande A11 in Roemenië. Meest kansrijk is een aansluiting ten zuiden van het stadje Salonta (Nagyszalonta). Dit zou een nieuw tracé tussen Békéscsaba. Sarkad en de Roemeense grens betekenen. (nl)

This was further extended in Eastern direction with a 18 km long section from Kondoros to road 44 bypass of Békéscsaba by the end of 2020, and in Western direction with a 10 km section to Lakitelek, including a new bridge on the Tisza river, by the end of 2021. The final 32,2 km long section connecting the expressway to motorway M5 is currently under construction. Construction works were split into two phases (one between Lakitelek and Szentkirály and another between Szentkirály and the connection to M5) with a projected completion date of the entire expressway in 2025. - De M44 is een autosnelweg in Hongarije. Het verbindt Kecskemét in het centrale deel van Hongarije met de stad Békéscsaba, nabij de grens met Roemenië. Nabij Kecskemét is er een snelle verbinding met de M5 (Hongarije) en de geplande M8 (Hongarije). In 2016 is de aanbesteding van het eerste deel uitgevoerd. In 2017 werd de aanleg van het eerste deel van de autosnelweg tussen Tiszakürt en Kondoros gestart. In 2019 was het grootste deel klaar zijn en in 2020 is het laatste traject naar Békescsaba aangelegd. Het deel van de weg tussen Tiszakürt via Szentkirály naar Nagykőrös is vanaf 2020 ook in aanbouw (inclusief een nieuwe brug over de rivier de Tisza. Eventueel verder in de toekomst zal dan de weg worden verlengd richting de stad Gyula. Een verdere verlenging aan de Roemeense zijde van de grens wordt niet verwacht. In Roemenië liggen geen plannen voor snelwegen in dit gebied omdat er geen sprake is van grotere steden. Wel hebben de Roemenen een expresweg (A11) in de planning tussen Oradea (Nagyvárad) en Arad. In 2021 werd bekend dat de Hongaarse overheid en de Roemeense overheid nadenken over een aansluiting van de M44 op de geplande A11 in Roemenië. Meest kansrijk is een aansluiting ten zuiden van het stadje Salonta (Nagyszalonta). Dit zou een nieuw tracé tussen Békéscsaba. Sarkad en de Roemeense grens betekenen. (nl)
