| - Die Linotype ist eine Setzmaschine, die in der historischen Entwicklung der Satzverfahren wie der zeitlich folgende Fotosatz ein Bindeglied zwischen Handsatz und Desktop-Publishing (DTP) darstellt. Sie wurde von Ottmar Mergenthaler entwickelt und erstmals 1886 als sogenanntes „Blower“-Modell vorgestellt. Die „Linotype“ war Namensgeber für das Linotype-Unternehmen (mit Firmen bzw.
