John J. Sumpter (July 7, 1842 – June 22, 1899) was a lawyer and state legislator in Arkansas, military colonel, hotel proprietor, and lived in Hot Springs, Arkansas for nearly all of his life.He served in the Arkansas House of Representatives and the Arkansas Senate.
