James "Jim" Wiegold (15 April 1934 – 4 August 2009) was a Welsh mathematician. Born in Trecenydd, Caerphilly, he earned a Ph.D. at the University of Manchester, England in 1958, studying under Bernhard Neumann, and is most notable for his contributions to group theory. Wiegold died from leukaemia on 4 August 2009, in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan.

Narodil se v jihovelšské vesnici a studoval na Manchesterské univerzitě, kde v roce 1958 získal titul Ph.D. Na této škole byl později sám lektorem. V sedmdesátých letech působil jako profesor na Cardiffské univerzitě. Byl řečníkem při kolokviích v mnoha světových zemích, včetně Kanady, Austrálie, Spojených států amerických, ale také Zimbabwe. Zemřel na leukemii ve věku 75 let v jihovelšském městě Penarth. (cs)
