The Independent Front (French: Front de l'Indépendance or FI; Dutch: Onafhankelijkheidsfront, OF) was a left-wing faction of the Belgian Resistance in German-occupied Belgium in World War II. It was founded in March 1941 by Dr Albert Marteaux of the Communist Party of Belgium, Father André Roland, and Fernand Demany, another communist. The aim of the organisation was to unite Belgian resistance groups of all opinions and political leanings; nonetheless the only political party that was affiliated as such was the Communist Party. The FI operated a significant propaganda, social and paramilitary organization, in addition to its military and sabotage functions and operated in competition with the larger pro-government Secret Army.

Ce sociologue revint avec un rapport sur le sort des Juifs déportés de Belgique qui permit à la Résistance belge de prendre conscience de la signification exacte des déportations. * l'Österreichische Freiheitsfront, une organisation antifasciste créée à Bruxelles par des réfugiés communistes autrichiens et allemands Grâce à ces diverses organisations ainsi que l'aide du SOE qui leur a fourni en 1943 des pistolets silencieux Welrod leur permettant d’éliminer une cible de manière discrète, le Front de l'indépendance met en place des opérations de sabotage, des chaînes d'évasion, un service de faux documents, et diffuse deux cent cinquante publications clandestines différentes.
