Fausto Zevi is a contemporary Italian classical archaeologist. Presently he is professor of Archaeology and Greco-Roman art history at the University of Rome La Sapienza and has previously held posts at the University of Naples Federico II and as archaeological superintendent at Ostia, Naples, and Rome. He is a prolific scholar with more than 200 publications on archaic Rome, Roman hellenism, the topography and urban plan of Pompeii, Ostia, and Rome. He is a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, the German Archaeological Institute, and an honorary fellow of the British School at Rome.

Er war Superintendent der Altertümer der Region Ostia, danach von Rom. Von 1977 bis 1982 war er in Nachfolge von Luigi D’Amore Superintendent der Region Neapel, und damit verantwortlich für die archäologischen Stätten von Pompeji, Herkulaneum, Oplontis, Boscoreale und Stabiae. Ihm folgte in dieser Position . Als Professor lehrte er an der Universität Neapel und zuletzt hatte er den Lehrstuhl für Griechisch-römische Archäologie an der römischen Universität La Sapienza inne. Zevi ist ein international anerkannter Spezialist auf dem Gebiet der Topographie des antiken Roms, Pompejis und Ostias. Daneben beschäftigt er sich vorrangig mit den hellenistischen Einflüssen auf die römische Kultur sowie dem archaischen Rom. Er hat mehr als 200 Schriften publiziert.
