| - La distribució Desmodròmica és un tipus de distribució en els motors de quatre temps, on és controlada tant l'obertura com el tancament de les vàlvules (recordar, que en les distribucions normals, el tancament es fa per molles). Els motors que fan ús d'aquesta distribució es diuen normalment "DESMO". Cal recordar que actualment és una patent mundial de Ducati. (ca)
- Desmodromický rozvod vyvinutý závodním týmem Ducati, je jeden z rozvodů spalovacích motorů. Na rozdíl od jiných druhů (OHV, OHC) nejsou ventily vybaveny vratnými pružinami, ale jejich zavírání ovládá druhá speciální vačka. V minulosti byly úspěšně vybaveny tímto rozvodem například závodní vozy Mercedes-Benz W196 nebo , v současnosti je tento rozvod typický především pro motocykly značky Ducati. Hlavní výhodou oproti rozvodům OHC a OHV je absence setrvačných sil vratných pružin, které způsobují zpožděné zavírání ventilů při vysokých otáčkách. Další výhodou tohoto rozvodu je, že otevírací vačka nemusí překonávat sílu zavíracích pružin ventilů. Zavírání ventilů je vyřešeno další vačkou. Nevýhodou je nutnost precizního seřízení (pouze servis). (cs)

In a conventional four-stroke engine, valves are opened by a cam and closed by return spring. - Desmodromie is het gedwongen openen en sluiten van een klep of schuif. Bij de desmodromische klepbediening worden de in- en uitlaatkleppen van viertaktmotoren geopend en gesloten door een mechaniek dat door de nokkenas wordt aangedreven. Dit in tegenstelling tot het gangbare systeem dat de kleppen wel geforceerd opent, maar ze met klepveren sluit. Dit systeem wordt bij productiemotorfietsen tegenwoordig uitsluitend door Ducati toegepast. Deze fabrikant gebruikt zijn door ontwikkelde systeem sinds 1954 op vrijwel alle viertaktmotoren.
