- Tropická cyklóna Winston, která v únoru 2016 prošla jižním Pacifikem, byla nejintenzivnější zaznamenanou bouří na jižní polokouli (s možnou výjimkou , která v roce 1899 zasáhla Queensland). Cyklóna se zformovala 7. února 2016 v blízkosti Vanuatu a postupně zesílila až na nejvyšší pátý stupeň Saffirovy–Simpsonovy stupnice. Krátce po dosažení maximální intenzity, večer 20. února 2016, zasáhla plnou silou souostroví Fidži. Síla bouře neměla v historii Fidži obdoby: jde o jedinou bouří kategorie 5, která kdy přímo zasáhla toto území. Zničila zde tisíce domů a zabila 44 lidí. (cs)
