En particulier sur la frontière, aux États-Unis, un juge, suivi d'un groupe de juristes, se déplaçait d'une localité à l'autre. Originàriament aquest sistema es basava en el concepte de jutges itinerants que visitaven i impartien justícia a diferents localitats del seu districte seguint un circuit pre-establert, per exemple anualment. El terme també pot fer referència a corts judicials, itinerants o no, que jutgen casos procedents de diferents localitats seguint un sistema de rotació. (ca) Obvodní soud je v České republice označení deseti soudů na území hlavního města Prahy, které vykonávají působnost okresních soudů pro vymezené pražské městské části. Jsou tedy na území Prahy základním článkem soustavy obecných soudů, rozhodují jako soudy prvního stupně v civilním i trestním řízení (specializovanou agendu ale vykonávají jako soudy prvního stupně krajské soudy, které jsou jinak soudy odvolacími, v tomto případě tedy Městský soud v Praze).
