Chelmsford is a constituency in Essex represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2017 by Vicky Ford of the Conservative Party. In September 2022, she was appointed by Prime Minister Liz Truss as Minister of State for Development in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. The constituency was created in 1885 and existed until 1997 when it was abolished and replaced by two new constituencies: Maldon and East Chelmsford and West Chelmsford. It was recreated in 2010 following the Fifth Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies.
