The Battle of Cartagena took place on 28 February 1758 off the Spanish port of Cartagena during the Seven Years' War. A British fleet under Henry Osborn, which had blockaded a French fleet in Cartagena, attacked and defeated a French force under Michel-Ange Duquesne de Menneville coming to their assistance. The interception of the French fleet ensured that only limited assistance would come to the French fortress of Louisbourg in North America, which was besieged by British forces and fell later that year.

El encuentro, que tuvo lugar frente a la ciudad española de Cartagena (Región de Murcia), se debió a la llegada de las fuerzas de Duquesne con intención de socorrer a la flota gala bloqueada en el puerto español, y se saldó con una victoria británica que evitó la llegada de ayuda a la asediada fortaleza de Luisburgo (América del Norte). Une flotte britannique sous les ordres de l'amiral Osborn, qui bloquait la flotte française à l'intérieur du port de Carthagène, attaque et bat une flottille française sous les ordres de Michel-Ange Duquesne de Menneville venue à leur aide. L'interception de la flotte française permettait de limiter les renforts envoyés au secours de Louisbourg en Amérique du Nord, qui était assiégé par les Anglais et qui tombera plus tard cette année-là.
