Baba Deep Singh (26 January 1682 – 13 November 1757) is revered among Sikhs as one of the most hallowed martyrs in Sikhism. He is remembered for his sacrifice and devotion to the teachings of the Sikh Gurus. Baba Deep Singh was the first head of Misl Shaheedan Tarna Dal – an order of the Khalsa military established by Nawab Kapur Singh, the then head of Sharomani Panth Akali Buddha Dal. The Damdami Taksal also state that he was the first head of their order.

Er stammt aus dem Dorf Pahuwind im Distrikt Amritsar. 1700 ging er nach , wo er sich zum Sikh taufen ließ. Anschließend begann er seine Waffenlehre und lernte das Reiten. Von Bhai Mani Singh lernte er Gurmukhi lesen und schreiben. 1702 kehrte er wieder in sein Dorf zurück und heiratete dort. 1705 ging er nach zu Guru Gobind Singh, wo er Bhai Mani Singh beim Anfertigen von Kopien des Guru Granth Sahib (heiliges Buch der Sikhs) helfen sollte. Da die Gurus nach Delhi mussten, wurde Deep Singh der Dienst aufgetragen, nach dem Rechten im Gurudwara Damdama Sahib zu sehen. (de)
