Alexander Baring, 1st Baron Ashburton, PC (27 October 1774 – 12 May 1848), of The Grange in Hampshire, of Ashburton in Devon and of Buckenham Tofts near Thetford in Norfolk, was a British politician and financier, and a member of the Baring family. Baring was the second son of Sir Francis Baring, 1st Baronet, and of Harriet, daughter of William Herring.

Han var son till bankmannen Francis Baring, 1:e baronet samt far till Bingham Baring, 2:e baron Ashburton och . Baring övertog ledningen av Barings Bank efter fadern, och utvidgade den ytterligare, främst genom förbindelser med USA. Han utnämndes 1835 till pär under namnet och sändes till Förenta staterna för att reda upp en del gränstvister och lyckades åstadkomma en förlikning i Washington 1842, som går under namnet Webster–Ashburtonfördraget.
