- 1991年の野球において、メジャーリーグベースボール（MLB）優勝決定戦の第88回ワールドシリーズ（88th World Series）は、10月19日から27日にかけて計7試合が開催された。その結果、ミネソタ・ツインズ（アメリカンリーグ）がアトランタ・ブレーブス（ナショナルリーグ）を4勝3敗で下し、4年ぶり3回目の優勝を果たした。 両チームの対戦はシリーズ史上初めて。1901年以降のMLBでは地区最下位の翌年に地区優勝を成し遂げた球団がなかったが、この年はツインズとブレーブスが揃って前年最下位からの地区優勝、そしてリーグ優勝を達成しワールドシリーズで対戦した。サヨナラゲーム4試合と延長戦3試合はいずれも当時のシリーズ史上最多であり、今シリーズは史上有数の名勝負として高く評価されている。シリーズMVPには、最終第7戦で延長10回をひとりで投げ切り完封勝利を挙げるなど、3試合23.0イニングで2勝0敗・防御率1.17という成績を残したツインズのジャック・モリスが選出された。 (ja)

Auflage des Finals der Major League Baseball zwischen dem Champion der American League, den Minnesota Twins, und den Atlanta Braves als Meister der National League. Sieger der „Best of Seven“-Serie wurden die Minnesota Twins mit 4:3 Siegen. Mit insgesamt 69 Runs hält die Serie den ewigen Rekord der meisten Runs in einer World Series, die über sieben Spiele ging (1993 wurden in nur sechs Spielen 81 Runs erzielt). The 88th edition of the World Series, it was a best-of-seven playoff played between the American League (AL) champion Minnesota Twins (95–67) and the National League (NL) champion Atlanta Braves (94–68). The Twins defeated the Braves four games to three to win the championship, their second in Minnesota and third overall . The series was also unique because of the standings of the two participating teams in the previous season: both finished the 1990 season in last place; before 1991, no league champion had ever finished the previous season in last place.
