In their third year under head coach Charley Bowser, the Panthers compiled a 3–6 record and were outscored by a total of 171 to 82. Guard Ralph Fife was selected as a first-team All-American by the Associated Press (AP). Fife was also selected by the AP as a first-team player on the 1941 All-Eastern football team. Halfback Edgar Jones was named to the second team on the All-Eastern team.
